Clarkrange Fire Hall Moving

/ The Upper Cumberland's News Leader

The Clarkrange Fire Hall is moving to a renovated location.

The highway 127 expansion project has already the current fire hall to be moved. Fire Chief Larry Cooper said the current location is smaller and landlocked.

“The exit access to the 127 [highway] was a little critical coming out there,” Cooper said. “This is going to be a more central location, easy access, they can see both directions a lot better. It’ll be a bigger facility, they have three trucks and this’ll hold the trucks a little bit easier than the one they’re in. We’ve got some room to grow now.”

The $92,000 relocation project should finish by early fall. Cooper said the new location is less than a mile from the Clarkrange General Store.

Cooper said renovations to the new facility include replacing metal in the building, new doors, and updates to restrooms, kitchen, meeting room, and office spaces.

“The fire department has done an excellent job,” Cooper said. “When we bought the building it had some stuff in it, so they came in and spent two saturdays out there. They pretty well gutted the building, which made it a little easier for us to renovate it.”
