Livingston Prepared for June 3 Election

/ The Upper Cumberland's News Leader

Overton County’s Administrator of Elections said the Town of Livingston is prepared for its June municipal election.

Craig Story said the election will still be held at the Livingston-Overton County Chamber of Commerce. However, the site preparation will change.

“One of the most noticeable things voters will see is we’re going have them go in through the main door, like they always have done, but they’ll probably exit through a side door,” Story said. “That’s just to keep the traffic flow from running into each other.”

Livingston’s election is June 3. Four people are running to fill three alderman seats. Mayor Curtis Hayes is running unopposed. With early voting in its first days, Story said turnout has been light so far.

“We’ve seen voters coming in, and they are taking precautions,” Story said. “We’re glad that they are doing that, and we’re trying to take precautions here for the voter, as well. Everybody seems to be doing their part.”

The Overton County Election Commission continues to plan for the August election. Story said the commission continues to struggle with finding solutions for nursing home voters.

“I think at this point, nobody know how that really will work out,” Story said. “We’ll just have to see.”

Early voting for the Livingston municipal election continues through Friday.
