Highlands 12 Owner Hopes To Reopen Theaters In July

/ The Upper Cumberland's News Leader

AMC Theaters will reopen nationwide in mid July as it tries to deal with deep debt and a $2.17 billion loss in first quarter.

AMC owns Cookeville’s Highlands 12 Cinema.

“In my heart of hearts, I passionately believe that in the end AMC will both succeed and prosper,” CEO Adam Aron told investors Tuesday.

Aron told all theater managers to be ready to open “on a moment’s notice.” Hollywood will release “Tenet” July 17 and “Mulan” July 24. The company plans to limit theater capacity and block off seats. The company will also upgrade air filtration and sanitation methods.

The company closed all its movie theaters in March, furloughing 35,000 employees.
