New Principal Decision This Week

/ The Upper Cumberland's News Leader

Putnam County Director of Schools Corby King says he hopes to make a decision this week on the new principal at Cane Creek Elementary School.

King said the process to replace Emily Pierce has been smooth. King said he will interview the finalists Tuesday and hopes to announce the new principal this week.

A decision on the new Assistant Principal at Upperman High School should also be coming soon, according to King. Greg Wilson became the new principal at White County High School in May.

“Mr. Stepp, the principal at Upperman is doing the interviews for that position,” King said. “I think he’s doing those (Tuesday). That was the last time I spoke with him. There’s the possibility we’ll have announcements for both positions on Wednesday or Thursday this week.”

Pierce retired in May after 30 years in the Putnam County School System. She was named Principal at Cane Creek in 2012.
