Jackson High School Renovations Approved

/ The Upper Cumberland's News Leader

The Jackson County Board of Education approved two bids for painting and ceiling replacement at Jackson County High School Thursday night.

Director of Schools Kristy Brown said she would like to see school maintenance on a more regular basis.

“It was identified as a need for updated and maintained buildings,” Brown said. “It was the right time to do it. I think maybe getting that on a more regular schedule is, if we are able to cover it, is an important thing.”

Brown said both projects were included in this year’s budget. The board awarded Brian Dick a $16,864 dollar bid for the painting project, which also includes repainting the cafeteria in the old Fox Middle School building. Deal Contracting earned a $55,000 dollar bid to replace the ceiling tiles in the high school.

Brown said all the work on Jackson County High School is expected to be completed before August 1.
