NJ Man Dies In I-40 Crash Near Monterey

A deadly week on Upper Cumberland roads continued Friday morning when a New Jersey man lost his life in a collision with a tractor-trailer along Interstate 40.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol reports 31-year-old Viram B. Dangar of Jersey City, NJ died around 3:00am Friday morning. Dangar’s car struck a right guardrail before bouncing across both westbound lanes. The vehicle then crossed the median a struck a tractor trailed head-on in the eastbound lanes. The trailer dislodged and rolled into a ditch.

The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.

No charges were filed. The incident happened near mile marker 302 in Putnam County.
