Former Jackson County Clerk Amanda Stafford is being held in Gainesboro for a probation violation.

Jackson County Sheriff Marty Hinson said Stafford was arrested by the Sheriff’s Department. He said Stafford allegedly failed a drug test.

In May, Stafford pleaded guilty in Jackson County Criminal Court to two counts of theft over $2,500 dollars. She was sentenced to two years probation and ordered to pay $10,000 dollars in restitution. Stafford was convicted of using the office of County Clerk to steal over $25,000 dollars between May 2018 and December 2019.

Stafford is being held without bond in the Jackson County Jail. Her next court date is scheduled for August 17.
