Public Meetings To Determine LA Stadium Design

The Overton County School’s Building Committee will host three public meetings for community comment on the final designs for Livingston Academy’s football stadium.

Chairman Mike Hayes said the committee is considering two options.

“There were three different options on the table for the football field,” Hayes said. “One option was to do a football field behind the softball field with no track. We threw that option out, so that narrowed it down to two options.”

Hayes said option one will be a new football field with a track and soccer field placed behind the softball park. This design requires a purchase of nine and a half acres of land. The estimated total of the design not including the land purchase is $8.7 million.

The second option will move the current football stadium diagonally to fit a new track around the field. A purchase of 3 acres will be required. The project’s estimated cost without the land purchase is $7.9 million.

Hayes said the future committee meeting dates and times will be posted next week.

“What we are going to do is we are going to hold three committee meetings,” Hayes said. “The dates are to be determined. One will be at LA. One will be at Rickman or Allons. The other one will be at Hillham or Wilson.”

After the meetings, the building committee will present the final plan for the stadium to the Overton County Commissioners.
