Rain contributed to a Sunday afternoon accident on Interstate 40 in Cumberland County.
A Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by 44-year-old Ramon Luis Rodriguez Velazquez of Dallas, Texas rear-ended a vehicle driven by 50-year-old Scott Ray Manley of Metropolis, Illinois. Manley’s vehicle blocked the left lane of travel, according to Tennessee Highway Patrol preliminary reports.
The incident happened during heavy rain around 1:30pm Sunday. The vehicles collided near mile marker 316.
Velazquez was charged with following too closely, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
