The completion of the third floor inside the new Cookeville Police station will cost just under $536,000.
Cookeville Police Chief Randy Evans said the completion date of the department would be pushed to January, 2023 with the addition of the third floor. The total price tag of the department would increase to over $14 million.
“That’s still less than what we expected,” City Manager James Mills said.
Cookeville City Council will consider the resolution to authorize the change order for the third floor at its Thursday meeting.
City council members asked Evans to at least price the completion of the third floor during a work session in June. Council members said the cost for the work would likely be less now than in the future. Architects and engineers worked over the last several weeks to price the completion.
The new police department will be built off Neal Street.
