J.J. Reels defeated Incumbent Bill Wiggins in the Monterey Mayor’s race Thursday night.
Reels won with 57-percent of the vote.
Monterey also saw two contested Board of Aldermen seats Thursday. In Ward 1, Amy Callahan beat Incumbent Julie Bohannon with 60-percent of the vote, and in Ward 3, James “Coonie” Foster edged James Wolfgram, garnering 56-percent of votes.
Ward 2 incumbent Alderman Mark Farley ran unopposed, receiving 335 complementary votes. In Ward 4, James “Pokey” Looper will join the board, running unopposed and collecting 294 votes.
