The restart for Overton County Schools has gone smoothly.
Director of Schools Mark Winningham said the only issues so far is connectivity for virtual learners.
“We do have some issues with students being able to log on,” Winningham said. “We expected that. We just hope everybody is patient with us working through those issues.”
Winningham said only a couple of students have switched from online to in-person. Monday marked the second full day of school.
“At this point, everything seems to be going pretty smooth,” Winningham said. “Of course, we are just in the second day. If we have issues, we will address those as soon as possible. We expected some that (technical issues), but we have people dedicated to take care of that.”
The school system uses Microsoft Teams for online learners and has a specific liaison dedicated to support technical problems if a teacher can not assist.
Winningham said bus numbers are below average. More parents have started to take their children to school. As students exit the bus or vehicle, they are temperature checked.
All staff are required to wear masks during school hours. Winningham said the mask mandate has not caused any issues. Winningham said hallway traffic has not been an issue. Livingston Academy has a movement pattern for students to help practice social distancing.
