2 More CRMC Death, UC Positivity Rates High

Two more Cookeville Regional patients with COVID-19 died within the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 23.

A total of 26 patients are currently hospitalized with COVID-19. Nine people are currently in intensive care. Six more patients are awaiting results.

Data from the Tennessee Department of Health showed 22 new COVID cases in Putnam County Tuesday. The county’s positivity rate over the last seven days stands at more than 15 percent.

Over the last week, six of the 11 highest positivity rates statewide are in the Upper Cumberland. 24 percent of the tests in Jackson County have been positives over the last seven days, the highest number in the state. Pickett County’s positivity rate stands at 20 percent, with 11 cases in the last week.

Overton County’s positivity rate ranks fifth highest state at 18 percent over the last week. Warren County and Fentress County are also both over 15 percent.

Local officials have said the data from the state continues to lag behind in several areas, but the data shows trends.
