Overton Cleans Up From Flood Damage

/ The Upper Cumberland's News Leader

Overton County crews cleaned up road damage Monday along Rickman Road after Sunday’s flash flood.

EMA Assistant Director Eric Stevens said the county has not seen flooding in the Rickman area that high since 2010.

“There was damage last night,” Stevens said. “Old Highway 42 was closed for a little while until the highway department get some rock put back in and fix the drain back.”

Stevens said the highway department fixed the drain on Rickman Road to help prevent flooding in the future. The road reopened Monday morning.

Flooding also occurred in Livingston around Bradford Hicks Drive. This area has been prone to flooding over the last several months. Besides the flooding, multiple trees reportedly fell along Standing Stone Highway. Stevens said no rescues were required.
