HVAC Training Coming to Jackson County High

/ The Upper Cumberland's News Leader

Jackson County High School Students will soon be able to get HVAC training.

There will be two different sites, including Jackson County High School and Jackson County Instructional Service Center in Gainesboro. Jackson County Director of Schools Kristy Brown said the decision to put HVAC on campus comes from employer’s needs.

“There’s research that goes into what program we’re able to offer based on the employer data and what they need, and so there is a high need for that skill, for HVAC skills,” Brown said.

Speeding up job training, Brown said this is part of dual-enrollment for Jackson County High School students. For other students, Brown said she thinks this program will succeed because of its uniqueness.

“There’s not a program like that in a T-CAT anywhere near by in this area, so we think that it would draw many students from other places as well,” Brown said.

The program launches in January.
