Crossville Community Supports New Rec. Center

Results are in for an online survey highlighting local input on Crossville’s proposed indoor recreation center.

Leisure Services Director Ethan Medley said the survey showed an overwhelming amount of support for the project.

“My biggest take away was I was very excited there was so much positive backing for it,” Medley said. “I think this is something the city needs and something I hope we are able to get, so it was really good to see all the positive feedback.”

Medley said the feedback will be used form the scope of the project. The city will hold a public hearing at city hall over the new facility on September 24th.

“At this point, going through using the survey, talking to the stakeholders and then the public meeting that is coming, we will be able to gather the information to see what that scope will actually be,” Medley said. “What we need and from there, we can decide how big it will be and what all we need to out in there.”

The city of Crossville met with stakeholders Thursday to discuss future plans. During the meeting, Ming said the hired consulting company showed stakeholders suggested ideas of an indoor pool and track for the center.

“After they showed the survey results, they talked about ideas that might be put in there,” Medley said. “They talked about indoor and outdoor pools they have done in other cities, for example Manchester and Tullahoma. They talked about indoor tracks. Indoor workout facilities.”

The survey for public comment is still available on the city’s Facebook page.
