Gainesboro Passes 20-21 Budget

The city of Gainesboro has passed its 2020-2021 budget.

Mayor Lloyd Williams said the delays for the budget were due to new alderman being added to the board.

“We had our elections in August,” Williams said. “The out going alderman did not feel comfortable voting on a budget that the new alderman would have to obey by.”

Williams said the budget is balanced and taxes will remain the same for the new year. At the end of the meeting, Alderman City employees also received a 50 cent.

The budget had to be passed Thursday or the city would have faced consequences from the comptroller’s office for delays.
