Rezoning Application For Tennessee Ave. Parcel

The city of Cookeville has submitted a rezoning application to change a seven and a half acre parcel on Tennessee Avenue to heavy manufacturing.

Cookeville Planning Director Jon Ward said the rezoning request is to accommodate a proposed use from a possible outside tenant.

“It is located on the city limit boundary,” Ward said. “The district is intended to accommodate industrial uses and establishments that are involved in basic processing and manufacturing of materials or products.”

The rezoning request will be up for approval during October’s planning commission meeting. If approved, the city council would then review the request.

The planning commission took the item for study during Monday’s meeting. Ward said the rezoning process is in the preliminary stages.
