The Tennessee Department Of Health will host weekend drive-thru testing at the Fentress County Senior Center Saturday.
Jamestown’s mobile testing site will be one of three sits setup across the state in an attempt to address rising COVID cases in the rural areas. The testing site will be open 9am to Noon Saturday.
“We’ve seen an upward trend in COVID cases in rural Tennessee that are cause for concern,” Health Commissioner Lisa Piercey said. “Bringing back weekend drive through testing helps with access to testing which will help combat COVID-19’s continued health threat. In addition to testing, Tennesseans need to take simple, yet impactful, precautions – wearing masks, washing hands, and social distancing – to protect themselves.”
Fentress County has reported 76 new cases over the last seven days. The Upper Cumberland has seen large increases in COVID cases over the last three weeks.
The Fentress County Senior Citizens Center is located at 308 South Main Street in Jamestown.
Piercey said the state will continue drive-thru testing over the next several weeks, focused on rural parts of Tennessee.
