Overton Health & Rehab Hit Hard By COVID

Overton Health and Rehab has 36 active COVID cases inside the center, with 25 active residents and 9 active staff members.

This accounts for 18 percent of all the active cases in Overton County. At Friday’s COVID Conference, Overton Health and Rehab Public Relations Director Scott Stevens said the center saw a pretty big surge a few weeks ago, and hopes the community will work to protect the center.

“The COVID gets into the nursing home through the community, okay,” Stevens said. “It’s out in the community and it’s brought in, so if we can lower those county numbers, that’s going to help our residents that are in nursing homes.”

Stevens said that in the next five days, all active residents will have completed their quarantine.

Stevens said as long as Overton County is in the red zone for positivity rates, the center will continue to test all employees twice a week.
