Putnam Ready To Issue $2.1 Million In Bonds For Land

Putnam County Commissioners Fiscal Review Committee approved the issuance of $2.155 million bond to pay for land purchased around the justice center.

County Mayor Randy Porter said the county got a 1.54 percent interest rate to pay for parcels purchased. It is a three-year note that will be rolled into a new bond when the county begins the construction of the justice center and jail purchase.

Commissioners approved over multiple meetings the purchase of parcels surrounding the Justice Center for parking once expansion begins. The expansion will be built in the existing parking lot of the jail/justice center.

The full county commissioners will next consider the measure.
