UCAAAD Partnering with Senior Centers for Alzheimer’s Awareness

The Upper Cumberland Area Agency on Aging and Disability is giving out 1,000 Alzheimer’s flag bags and resource guides for caregivers in November.

UCAAAD Family Caregiver Assistant Sara Martin said the agency is partnering with local senior centers and programs like Meals On Wheels. Martin said starting next week they will give out bags with goodies that normally would be available at their in-person Senior Expo.

“We’ve partnered with local companies and organizations that would typically attend the Senior Expo events,” Martin said. “They’ve just donated a ton of items, anywhere from pens to notepads, back scratchers, candy, you name it, it’s probably gonna be in that bag.”

Martin said the resource guide for caregivers and seniors is an 80 page information filled magazine. Martin said anyone interested in receiving a bag and resource guide can reach out to UCAAAD or their local senior center.

November is both Alzheimer’s Awareness Month and National Family Caregiver Month.
