Crossville Permits and Inspections Moving Online

Crossville is streamlining its codes, permits and inspection process by making the move online.

Starting Tuesday all new projects will be applied for and paid for through a program called My Government Online after creating an account. Crossville Building Inspector Carl Kerley said the biggest change will be for people who do not use computers, but they still have an in-person option.

“Preferably they’d create it on there own time before they came in, but I know some people don’t have computers still yet,” Kerley said. “We could definitely work with them there, but yeah the idea is that we’ll be able to do both ways.”

For projects planned to start after December 1, residents can visit the Crossville city website and find online permitting under codes enforcement. Kerley said this move stems from a year where much of this work had to be done remotely.

“People can apply and send in permits without having to actually come into the office and talk to us directly,” Kerley said. “They can send in their data that they need to and their application all online and we can process it and send the fees back. They can even pay for it online.”

Kerley said any projects started before December 1 will be completed under the old software. Anyone familiar with the old system, and in the middle of their project will not need to change how they are proceeding.

“If they need to turn in documents they can email them to us and we’ll work with them that way or they can turn them in in-person,” Kerley said. “For inspections, the new software they’ll be able to schedule inspections online but for the old software they have to call in and let us know they need an inspection.”

Any questions or issues on those projects can be handled by calling the Crossville Codes Department. Whether someone applies online or in-person they will still need to have an account with My Government Online.

Setting up an account can be handled at and if someone needs further assistance they can call 1-866-957-3764.
