Putnam Courthouse Pipe Burst Causes Minimal Damage

The bottom level of the Putnam County Courthouse received minimal damage after a water line busted Monday morning.

Mayor Randy Porter said the Trustee’s and Mayor’s office closed for the day as a result.

“We had a pipe rupture about six o’clock this morning that flooded the downstairs area of the courthouse where the Trustee’s and Mayor’s offices are,” Porter said. “Thankfully our custodian was there and heard it when it broke and called our maintenance department. They got there quickly and got it cut off.”

Porter said there is no apparent reason as to why the line busted. Repairs have since been made, and a company is working to dry the water. Porter said offices should reopen Tuesday.
