The Beheld the Serpent S.T.E.A.M Academy is opening a new Cookeville location to facilitate science learning with Christian beliefs.

Founder Keith Limper said the academy provides home school families with equipment to conduct lab experiments.

“Students come here,” Limper said. “They here a lecture, or they basically cover the concepts the student at home should be reading and studying, and they get to execute their lab.”

Limper said the pandemic has allowed the academy to expand with the home school sector growing. Limper said the Robert Matthews Highway location opens April 1st.

“In late May and June we will have summer camps,” Limper said. “And then we will be prepared to start the fall 2021 semester.”

Limper said home schooled high school students are a big target with higher education requiring a lab science. The once mobile operation began in 2017.

“I would go either to churches, organizations or other types of academy that would be willing to host my opportunities,” Limper said. “Primarily right now, it is mostly science based.”
