Baxter Wants To Build Equipment Structure

Baxter is considering a plan to build an equipment shed for its street department to protect equipment and vehicles.

Mayor John Martin said there is enough adjacent land at the Street Department’s new facility to build something for all the community’s equipment.

“Our Street Superintendent Travis Clark got all the bids on all of it and all the specs for us,” Martin said. “We’re planning on doing that, I know the board brought it up to Travis to get the information for them. He presented it at our meeting, we’re really anxious to get that done.”

Street Superintendent Clark presented two different plans Thursday night. One plan was for a six bay structure that cost $30,000 and a 12 bay structure costing $46,000.

“We’ve got a new garbage truck, a lot of good equipment that we’re going to get under cover,” Martin said.

Martin said that the proposed structure would benefit more than just Baxter’s Street Department.

“If our police department has any vehicle or whatever to put in the dry,” Martin said. “Our water department also, we can use it for all of them.”
