Power outages have increased in the last hour across Cookeville as heavy rain has fallen, freezing on some trees and power lines.
More than 2,300 Fentress County customers of Volunteer Energy are without power as of 2:30pm.
As of 2pm, Cookeville Electric is working outages in four different areas of the city. The latest outage is along East 10th Street, North Washington Avenue and Brown Avenue. Crews reported the outage at 2:16pm.
Crews are also working a large outage along Fairground Street, South Willow Avenue to West Spring Street, West Jackson Street to Buffalo Valley Road.
A third outage is in the area of Pine Avenue, West 9th Street and West 12th Street. A fourth area is along Interstate Drive.
Crews are working the outages. Cookeville Electric asks that you not contact 911 with power outages.
Upper Cumberland Electric is reporting outages in Overton County in the areas of Oakley Allons Rd, Airport Rd, Frogtown Road, Standing Stone Park Highway and Chestnut Hill. In Gainesboro, fallen trees have downed a line at McCoinsville Road.

Heavy rain began falling around 1pm Monday. In some areas, the precipitation is freezing on trees and power lines while in other areas of Putnam County, temperatures are about 32 degrees.
