Time To Renew Hunting and Fishing Licenses For 2021

Hunting and Fishing licenses expired in February, and sportsmen need to renew for the Spring turkey season and fishing.

TWRA Wildlife Information Specialist Mime Barnes said licenses can be renewed online or in-person. Barnes said that having a license supports wildlife efforts and keeps hunters and fishermen out of trouble.

“If you think about how much public land we have and across the state of Tennessee, that is equal to about the size of Rhode Island,” Barnes said. “Those dollars go back to tending to that public, hunt-able and fish-able land.”

Barnes said there’s a new collectible hard card available this season. The waterproof card features either a bull elk or crappie.

“The artwork changes on that yearly and it’s always neat and fun for us to see as employees,” Barnes said. “There are some slight changes in regulations and just be sure to review those before you head out and we hope everybody enjoys the great outdoors.”

Regulation changes include tagging the harvest before you move it and the Spring season bag limit for turkey has been reduced from four to three. Hunters can report their harvest online or tag it physically before dragging. Physical tags need to be checked in before midnight.
