Overton Sets Minimum Price For Annex Building Sale

Overton County Commissioners approved setting a $50,000 minimum price for selling the Annex Building during Monday night’s meeting.

County Executive Ben Danner said Narcotics and Alcoholics Anonymous are still using the space. Danner said he will give them another month in the building. Danner said the goal is to try and have the building auctioned by May or June.

“I think it would be a lot better to sell it and that would be up to you all if we turn around and paid that back on the note for the new building,” Danner said. “Or if we use that to help with the ice storm debris removal or whatever we’d want to do with it or put it back in the general fund.”

Danner said he will send out bids to local realtors to see who wants to auction the building, and will bring that back to the commission in April. Danner said there are companies interested in the building located at 317 East University Street in Livingston.

“Several companies have looked at it, there’s two or three looked at it maybe putting some people working on individual things inside the space,” Danner said.

Danner said the county will let interested buyers see it in-person once it is completely cleared out. He said he believes holding the auction online will put more eyes on the property.
