Sparta Property Could Enhance South Carter Street Park

Sparta has purchased property across from South Carter Park at a foreclosure sale.

City Administrator Brad Hennessee said that long-term plans have not been set. However, Hennessee said the immediate value to the city is the multiple options it provides for expansion at South Carter Street Park.

Hennessee said the purchase price was $153,100 for a combined lot size of 0.74 acres. The location is at West Bockman Way and South Carter Street.

Hennessee said the sale has not been closed yet but hopes the closing will occur in the next few days. He said there would be more known about the property once the city has a chance to further evaluate the location.
