Monterey Easter Egg Hunt Returns Saturday

Get your baskets ready for Saturday’s Monterey Easter Egg Hunt.

Cultural Administrator Rafferty Cleary said festivities begin at 10:00 a.m.

“We’re extremely excited here in Monterey,” Cleary said. “Last year we got cancelled. The reason is probably well-known to everyone as we have been going through a pandemic. So, we are excited just being able to have an event that was cancelled because of this last year.”

Cleary said egg hunts will be split up by age groups. Toddlers to four-years-old will gather at the town’s little league park, ages five through eight at Whittaker Park and ages nine through 12 at the standing stone monument by the library.

“We’ve had about 10,000 eggs that most of our city employees have had some sort of involvement in filling,” Cleary said. “Candy has been well supplied, and we have all of those eggs ready to go, so we can get them hid, or I should say the Easter Bunny rather would hide them for us.”

Cleary said he encourages all of the community to come out and enjoy the fun. Cleary said hunters should be on the look out for special eggs hidden through out each area.

“There are what we call special prized eggs, and so, if you’re lucky to find one of those eggs, there is a special prized involved,” Cleary said. “The prizes are different for each age group, and there is a select number of these eggs out there.”

The rain out date for the egg hunts is April 3rd at the same time and locations.
