Algood Farmers’ Market Facility Opening Thursday

The Algood Farmers’ Market building is complete and set to open on Thursday.

City Administrator Keith Morrison said residents and vendors are excited to have a dedicated facility now. Morrison said the market is another piece to invigorating Algood’s downtown.

“The opportunity that if you were using the parking lot and the facility even with it not completed,” Morrison said. “I think it’s a bright light for the future. I think it’s going to be a real big boost.”

Morrison said Algood is considering the possibility of having events focused on the farmers’ market, but there will not be food trucks. He said the market will be open every day from 7:00 AM until 7:00 PM at 186 West Main Street.

Morrison said anyone interested in being a vendor needs to contact the city.

“They need to come to city hall and fill out an application, it’s a free application but they do have to fill out paperwork,” Morrison said. “The utility office handles that and then it’s just a first come, first served to be used when there’s space available over there.

Morrison said the only thing that has not been completed is paving the parking lot. However, Morrison said this is because a water line needs to be extended.
