Emergency Flood Relief Funds Available For UC Non-Profits

The Community Foundation has reopened its Tennessee Emergency Response Fund for donations in light of last weekend’s flooding event.

Media and Community Relations Director Pat Embry said non-profits in the Upper Cumberland assisting in recovery efforts can take advantage of the fund.

“We’ll in part take those funds, and then, we’ll spread them out to those affected areas,” Embry said. “We cover a 40 county area, so we try to be extra careful that funds go out to the outlying areas.”

Embry said the foundation is working with TEMA to distribute the non-profit grants. An organization can call 615-244-7444 for more information. Home owners can also take advantage of this hotline for free debris cleanup.

The Community Foundation exists to promote and facilitate giving in the 40 counties of Middle Tennessee and beyond. It does this by accepting gifts of any size from anyone at any time and by empowering individuals, families, companies, nonprofits, and communities to respond to needs and opportunities that matter.
