Tucker Stadium Top Candidate For Upcoming LA Football Season

Tennessee Tech’s Tucker Stadium is the top candidate to be the home for the 2021 Livingston Academy Football season.

That is according to Head Coach Bruce Lamb. Lamb said as soon as he heard stadium renovations were moving forward, he started the process of finding an alternative site.

“I’ve talked to Mark Wilson at Tennessee Tech,” Lamb said. “Hoping that we can maybe play some of our games there at Tennessee Tech. Right now, that is what our plan is. Hopefully, we can play those five regular season games there.”

Lamb said if Tucker Stadium does not work, the back-up plan is to play home games at the away team’s stadium and split gate revenue. Lamb said the school hopes to hear back from the university sometime in May.

“What we have talked about with theses other coaches is we would just play at their place,” Lamb said, “We would play away at their place, and we would split the gates for the next two years, because each contract is for two years. It is an unfortunate thing, but we will make the best out of it as we can.”

Lamb said Livingston Academy has a long history at Tech with scrimmages being played there for the past 13 years, While fans and players are familiar with the location, Lamb said not playing in Livingston does come as a disadvantage.

“You love playing at your home stadium,” Lamb said. “The seniors that we have for this upcoming year, it is going to be tough on them not being able to play in front of their home crowd and at our home stadium.”

The renovations for the Livingston Academy Stadium moved forward last week. Work is focused on adding new bleachers with a 3,500 capacity and building new facility buildings. Lamb said the project has been something that is much needed.

“If you look at our stadium, you can definitely tell it needs some stuff, and it has been needing it for a long time now,” Lamb said. “This has been in the works for the past two years, and Mr. Mike Hayes has taken care a lot of things for us and a greatly appreciate him for what he has done.”

About $4.3 million project is expected to be completed in the spring of 2022. Lamb said the new stands and amenities will be a great thing for the community.
