White County Highway 135 To Reopen With One Lane

A portion of Highway 135 in White County has been closed due to a portion of roadway washing out.

This is two miles west of Highway 111, near Milk Plant Road.

T-DOT Spokesperson Jennifer Flynn said the Bridge Inspection Team determined the concrete box culvert was having issues due to heavy rains. However, Flynn said that a temporary solution is on its way today.

“We are waiting for a temporary signal system to be delivered,” Flynn said. “After that signal system is delivered and set up, then the road will be opened to one lane and controlled with that temporary signal system. While we determine what kind of permanent repairs we need to do.”

Flynn said this portion of Highway 135 will be open to one lane Thursday, and drivers should not have to seek alternate routes. She said that even if there is rain during installation it should not slow down the process.

“They’ll get the signals up,” Flynn said. “Unless a flood of biblical proportions actually came and did things to the road, the rain won’t delay them getting the signal system installed.”

This closure and temporary signal are in the Burgess Falls Road and Milk Plant Road area.
