Crossville Man Dies In I-40 DUI Crash


A Crossville man died Monday afternoon in a crash reportedly caused by a man driving while impaired.

The incident happened on Interstate 40 around mile marker 302 just after 4pm Monday. 39-year-old Cipriano Mendez died when his vehicle was struck by the vehicle of 27-year old Jeffrey Skudlark II of McCrory, Arkansas.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Skudlark was driving at a high rate of speed and attempted to pass Mendez. The two vehicles were traveling eastbound.

Skudlark faces charges of Vehicular Homicide, DUI, Implied Consent, Simple Possession, Drug Paraphernalia, Exercise of Due Care, and Open Container.
