Livingston Little League Ball Returns This Summer

Little league baseball and softball returns to Livingston this summer with sign-ups now available.

Parks and Recreation Director Michael Hayes said COVID forced last season to be cancelled, so the city is excited to bring back the fun.

“It’s very important, so those kids can get outside and play and see their friends and just get out and be a part of their community,” Hayes said. “I know there was a lot of kids last year that missed the opportunity to play.”

Sign-ups can be found at the Livingston City Hall or at Hayes said opportunities to play are available for children of all ages.

“We range from anywhere between three-years-old to seventeen-years-old,” Hayes said. “That goes up from the diaper league all the way up to the Babe Ruth age group and the seventeen and under slow pitch softball.”

Hayes said those interested in playing have until April 30th. The season is expected to begin on May 24th.

‘Whenever we get all the sign ups and registrations put together, we’ll generally have a draft,” Hayes said. “The coaches will get out and watch the kids and evaluate them and then at the end of the day, we will get together, and the coaches will go through a selection process. They will draft out the kids. Most of the time the kids will be contacted that day.”

Hayes said the city is still working on which COVID precautions will be used during the season.
