Commissioners Decide Against Considering Gun Resolution

A resolution declaring Putnam County a “Second Amendment Sanctuary County” will not be considered by Putnam County Commissioners this month.

The Commissioners Planning Committee voted 10-2 Monday night to remove Commissioner Jordan Iwanyszyn’s proposal from the agenda. It said Putnam County would “dedicate no physical or financial resources toward the unlawful infringement of the right to keep and bear arms.”

Iwanyszyn told the full county commission Putnam County stands as the only county in the region not to pass the resolution.

Joe Iwanyszyn said during the comment period of Monday night’s meeting he wanted to make sure his constituents knew he had nothing to do with removing the resolution from the agenda.
