The Van Buren County Commission has appointed Benjamin Grissom to fill the 1st district seat of the school board.

Grissom is native to Van Buren and works at the state FFA Camp Clements. Grissom said he is excited to begin working with the school board.

“I’ve got kids school age, in school,” Grissom said. “So, I thought I would be an asset in that role.”

Commissioner Sam Henry Seamons nominated Grissom with no other candidates considered during the Tuesday commission meeting. Grissom replaces Ronnie Hitchcock, who moved outside of the district he represents.
