Baxter PD Aids In Catching Carjacked Vehicle From Nashville

A Baxter Police Department Sergeant helped catch a carjacked vehicle coming from the Nashville-Metro area on Thursday around noon.

Sergeant Tory Womack said after receiving the call from dispatch, he waited for backup around mile-marker 280 on I-40. He said he spotted the vehicle and attempted to pull it over around mile-marker 273 near Silver Point, and the driver fled from the two officers on the scene.

Womack said they chased the driver to the Smithville area, where Tennessee Highway Patrol laid spike strips to catch the vehicle. He said they then took the 18-year-old driver of the Nashville area and the three passengers into custody.

Womack said the next steps will be going to court, and that there are no other details to be disclosed at this time.
