UCHRA Uber-Based Service Coming To Cookeville This Month

UCHRA plans to fully launch its Uber-based transportation service PickUp Cookeville on August 23rd.

Transportation Director Holly Montooth said the Cookeville/Putnam County area will now have mobility on demand.

“We have partnered with Routematch Uber Technologies to be a part of their mobile apping service,” Montooth said. “So if you have Uber downloaded on your phone or mobile device, you can always hit Uber and PickUp Cookeville will be an option.”

Montooth said the rides differ from regular public transportation in the fact the service is offered after hours and on weekends. Montooth said PickUp Cookeville has partnered with Wine on the Westside, so people can try out the program slightly early this weekend.

“We’re currently in our soft launch phase,” Montooth said. “We’re looking to do our hard launch, however we will be available for Wine on the Westside. We are really excited for that.”

Montooth said UCHRA is currently hiring new drivers to join the team. Montooth said the position is part-time with flexible hours.

“Our hours are nights, weekends,” Montooth said. “If you are looking to supplement your income in some way, this would be a perfect opportunity. This service will allow you to use our vehicles and our mobile devices, so you will be an employee of the Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency.”
