Northfied Elementary School in White County is on soft lockdown Friday due to a police search in the area.
That is according to Director of Schools Kurt Dronebarger. Dronebarger stated in a public announcement that the action comes as a precaution. There is an extra police presence on school grounds, but there is no perceived threat.
“We will provide an update to parents later in the day,” Dronebarger said in an email. “We do ask that parents avoid calling the school unnecessarily as this ties up the communication lines.”
Dronebarger said the school is safe and secure, and a normal school day will continue inside the building.
