Initial registration numbers for White and Overton School Systems suggest student enrollment inches back to pre-COVID numbers.
White County Director of Schools Kurt Dronebarger said the district has rebounded with registration numbers looking solid.
“We’re over 3,900 here in White County,” Dronebarger said. “We’re about 3,918 last year, so we’re right back there where we were so that’s a good thing. We were a little higher than that two years ago. Prior to COVID, we were about 3,963.”
Director of Schools Donnie Holman said Overton County registration numbers are up by a few compared to last year.
“We’re just over 3,100 kids a little bit,” Holman said. “We had lots of new students. Of course, we always have some that transfer out and several that come in. Overall, I believe Livingston Middle School has the biggest changes. I think they are up about 25 students.”
Both School Directors said districts should have hard numbers on registration and enrollment after Labor Day. Dronebarger said White County has seen the most growth in Doyle Elementary School.
