Dale Hollow Eagle Cam Returning With New Nest And Angle

The Dale Hollow Eagle Cam has been reinstalled after being out of commission for over a year.

The camera live streams the home of the eagle couple Obey and River. Dale Hollow Eagle Cam Facebook Manager Darlene Neeley said one can start viewing their nest as early as this month.

“We’ve got a different view than we had last year and the year before, but it’s going to be a good view,” Neeley said. “Right now the nest looks terrible, because Obey and River haven’t been there to redo their nestoration, but they will. They’ll get there soon.”

Neeley said the camera installation was easy for Twin Lakes. Neeley said the new nest was close enough to the previous one that only a short cable extension was needed.

“Obey and River didn’t build far from that, and we couldn’t install the cameras until their season was over last year,” Neeley said. “We know they successful fledged two eagles last year, but there might have been three eggs laid, but we’re not sure because we didn’t have a camera view.”

The new nest is located between Sunset Marina and East Port Marina. The old nest was destroyed during a storm early last year making Obey and River relocate.

“People can’t get to them by land,” Neeley said. “You have to go up the Obey River. (…) If you don’t have a good eye, you can’t see it in the summer time.”

Neeley said the camera has been tested and is ready to go as soon as the YouTube stream gets setup. Neeley said viewers will have a overhead view of the nest, and people can tune in online or on Twin Lakes TV on channel 955.
