White Co. Fair Poised To Close Out The Fair With Great Weather

After heavy rains led to activity cancellations and modifications, the fair is excited to close out the week with beautiful weather.

That’s according to Fair Board President Mike Wilson.

He said that in canceling the fair last year due to COVID, they wanted the community to be able to come back together.

“I know a lot of people have told me this,” Wilson said. “But when they come to the fair, they’re just able to get out and enjoy themselves and see other people they maybe haven’t seen in a while, or see some old friends and just reconnect. It’s just a really good environment, and family-friendly.

Wilson said that rain caused several activities to be moved indoors, and many rides to be shut down.

He said that the good weather will allow them to host all the fan-favorites, including rides, the rodeo, ATV races, and the demolition derby.

“Everybody loves the demolition derby,” Wilson said. “So looking forward to that. That always brings in a good crowd. Then of course our other events that we have going on throughout the grounds. We have a magician, live music on the back porch stage, and also on the John White stage. We  just have different things going so we really look forward to everyone coming out.”

As the president, Wilson said his favorite part of serving on the fair board is a job well done. He said that it’s satisfying to be a part of the hard work that has members of the community coming together to create the event together

The White County Fair will run until Satuday, September 4th. Tickets are $5, and the gates will open at noon.
