Fentress Town Hall Series Focused On Engaging County Residents

Fentress County is offering extra opportunities for residents to have the county commission’s ear on important topics.

County Executive Jimmy Johnson said it has been several years since town halls have happened. Johnson said it was a county commission idea and imagines county spending and raises will be on the public’s mind.

“That’s the time to address it because they’ll shoot straight forward with them,” Johnson said. “Tell them exactly what it is, what’s going on and hopefully they can answer all the questions that anyone has to ask them.”

Johnson said the commission wants to keep the public up to date on grants, capital projects and the reason behind any money being spent.

“The raises, I’m sure people will wanting to know about those to the correction officers and our deputies,” Johnson said. “They’re just starting at one point, starting at one spot in the raises category and go over the census we have taken about different surrounding counties and such. Trying to be in as close of a comparison as we can.”

Johnson said there will be four town halls, starting at 6:00 PM on September 9 at Pine Haven Elementary School. He said the series will be each Thursday, moving locations for each meeting.
