One hundred percent of hospitalized COVID patients this month at Livingston Regional have not been vaccinated.
That is according to Physician Relations and Marketing Director David Cox. Cox said during that time, 31 percent of inpatient admissions have been COVID cases.
“Currently, most of our patients that have been tested positive for COVID are in our ICU,” Cox said. “Currently, 50 percent of our capacity in the ICU is COVID positive patients today.”
Cox said COVID patient numbers have continued to rise during the recent surge. Cox said five beds are available in the medical surgical unit and just a couple in the intensive care unit.
“We’re still doing elective surgeries, which some hospitals have discontinued, and we’re continuing to monitor all other available service lines,” Cox said. “But, we are currently running all our service lines as we would normally. The main difference for us right now is restrictions on visitations.”
Cox said the hospital asks residents to take their health very seriously at this time. Cox said there is a shortage of hospital beds through out the state.
“We need everybody to seriously consider getting the vaccine for their own well being and for their families around them,” Cox said. “Continue to wear a mask when all possible and take hand hygiene very seriously.”
