White County Repairing, Improving Basketball Courts

White County is continuing improvements to its public basketball courts after a fallen tree caused damage.

County Executive Denny Wayne Robinson said the courts have been resurfaced but replacing the basketball goals are still ahead. Robinson said the courts just south of the high school will likely close at the end of this week.

“We want to make sure everything is the best it can be,” Robinson said. “We have a lot of young people come down there and play basketball. We’ve also incorporated what they call pickleball, actually two courts into this process.”

Robinson said the courts were already in need of repairs, but the tree damage sped up the rehab process.

“It was back earlier in the year, I think March,” Robinson said. “We had to go through and get estimates. It’s hard to find people to work right at the moment. So it took a while to get it done but we’re just about done with it.”

The courts are adjacent to the White County tennis courts off of Allen Drive.
