Putnam FD Responds To Southfork Road Barn Fire

The Putnam County Fire Department responded to an accidental barn fire around 12:28 p.m. Tuesday near Southfork Road in Baxter.

Chief Tom Brown said the barn was being demolished and had a small fire next to it that led to the barn itself catching fire.

Brown said that although there was a small grass fire around the area, there was no great loss as there was no property damaged and the barn was already planning on being demolished. He said that conditions are getting dry enough to where it could have spread.

However, Brown said that potential rains tomorrow could cause those conditions to change. He said firefighters were on the scene for some 90 minutes.
