One New Fentress Chamber Leader Has Vision For Future

The Fentress County Chamber of Commerce’s new Tourism and Membership Director Seth Vaughn has big goals for the county.

Vaughn said that his focus is growing business development in areas like Clarkrange with restaurant and entertainment options. Vaughn said he and chamber leadership want to create opportunities to leave a lasting impression on visitors.

“One thing that I would like to see take place is more downtown events here on the square,” Vaughn said. “We have a beautiful downtown area and an incredible place to host those events. So anything that we can bring to that area just to attract newcomers to the area.”

Vaughn said engaging the youth in Fentress County is a short term goal he believes can be achieved. He said restarting the Leadership Fentress group could lay that foundation over the next 12 to 18 months.

“I am probably the youngest person that has ever held a position here at the chamber of commerce,” Vaughn said. “And not necessarily just here, but probably in other county governments. I would just like to see that happen more often. So we have had a program here at the chamber called Leadership Fentress, that is my goal to see take place within that time frame, just getting that back up and running.”

Vaughn said that along with creating entertaining things for people to do to keep them in the county, he wants to market reasons to bring people into the county.

“We have several great tourism assets here in Fentress County,” Vaughn said. “Some of those are the Alvin C. York Home Place and just his history down in Pall Mall. Aside from that, we also are known for being the horse riding capital. So there’s a ton of horse riding trails in the areas and then a lot of people come just to take part in our hiking trails and stuff like that.”

Vaughn said the chamber currently has 195 members. Vaughn said he still wants to grow that number, county businesses should reach out to him at the chamber to see what they can offer by working together.
